When I left school I studied for 3 years to become first a beauty therapist, & then a spa therapist. I learnt all the basics such as manicures, pedicures, massage & facials; & then moved on to sports massage, reiki & more specialised treatments. I absolutely loved doing this & meeting all the interesting people that I came into contact with. Unfortunately when my health took a drastic decline, I could do longer cope with the manual side of things & often could not even speak to my clients. This left me embarrassed & oftentimes uncomfortable when I couldn’t give of my best.
Coming from this background means that I am quite fussy about who I go to for some pampering, & I had always gone to the same lady in my home town who was a friend of mine too. I couldn’t bare the thought of going to someone else, & when I did the one time I was horrified at their technique & found I couldn’t properly relax as I could sense that there was no passion behind what they were doing.
When I moved to JHB I had no idea who to try – must I go for the salons based across the company, or should I rather try a smaller home salon? Do I ask for recommendations on my local Facebook group, or do I see who is closest to me? And them, I met the wonderful Lois. Lois has a salon at her house in Fourways & has quite recently brought on 2 more wonderful ladies to assist her out. She is bubbly, friendly & I always leave with a huge smile on my face. She truly cares about all of her clients & her treatments are all of the highest quality.

Why do you love what you do: Who can say that they get to socialize with clients (who become your friends) all day!! Clients are always thanking you for making them feel and look beautiful. It’s the most rewarding job anyone could ever ask for!

I absolutely love my time at Lois’s Beauty Studio, & I will always recommend her salon to everyone I can in JHB. I used to travel over half an hour to get to her, but luckily now we have moved just down the road!
