I am always on the hunt for South African artists that make me smile, & that I would love to have a piece of their artwork hanging up in my house. You may remember my blog about Charlie Loves (one of my favourite of all time), & when I saw that Minimal Creations had done a stunning drawing of Charlie’s work, I immediately reached out.
Your name: Maretha Brink – I’m a 25 year old born and raised farm girl from Riebeek-West.
Business name: Minimal Creations
Social media handles: Facebook | Instagram
Tell me a bit more about what you do: I draw custom illustrations from Photo’s which makes the perfect framed gift for someone or add that extra love to your home.
Have you always been artistic: I guess so yes- I’ve been doing art since primary school also have many family members who have an artistic side.
What makes your art different to others: I try to keep my illustrations as minimalistic as possible to perfectly fit into any decor style. However I put in alot of time and love into each illustration to give you the most accurate drawing possible. An illustration takes me about 2 hours, but I try my very best to keep the ordering process as well as the waiting period minimal.
Do you do custom art pieces: Absolutely – Send me your idea and photo and I will put it into an illustration for you.
How can people place an order with you: Very easy, just send me a message on either Facebook or Instagram and I will respond to you as soon as possible with my banking details, as soon as I received your POP you can send me 3 photo’s and I will start with your illustration.
What is your favourite piece of art that you have done so far: I don’t have a favourite, each illustration is special and unique in it’s own way, I really enjoy and treasure the process of creating them.
Why do you encourage people to support local: I love supporting entrepreneurship, people who take the leap to think out of the box. It also creates opportunities for stay at home mommies to give some extra care to their families. Local ownership also ensures that important decisions are made locally by people who live in the community and who will feel the impacts of those decisions.
Quote you live by: A happy life is not build upon the goal of perfection, but balance.
Aren’t these divine?
Maretha is so talented, & I adore her style of pictures. The simplicity makes them pop even more!
It is my seven-year wedding anniversary coming up, & I think I may place an order with Maretha as a unique gift for the amazing man in my life. What do you think? I always enjoy giving something special that they definitely won’t have already.
