2019 has been my year of getting healthy. I had a stem cell transplant in January & SURVIVED! I really feel like I have been given a second chance at life & am taking every opportunity to live my life in the best way possible. I want to be healthy. I want to be strong. I want to make good choices. And this has all started with joining a gym & trying out different classes.
One that has been absolutely amazing is yoga. I had never even attempted a class before, but had seen how friends rave about it & how it has changed their lives for the better. It is more than simply an hour-long class, but rather a life-changing way of thinking & living.
Because I have not exercised properly in 15 years (shocking thought I know…) I did not own ANY gym wear & was simply wearing my regular tights & oversized tees. I know there is nothing wrong with that, but I wanted something pretty that would encourage me to attend gym more often as well as bringing a smile to my face. And then, I discovered Hoko Active Wear & I was immediately drawn in!

Tell me a bit more about what you do: We have a passion to supply the most comfy and beautiful active wear and leggings at an affordable price.
How did the business idea come about: My mother-in-law and I love to shop! So about two years ago we decided to make our passion our living and launched our little fashion business. Back then we focused on a wide variety of fashion items (our name even started off as FOMO Fashion) but we soon realised how popular our leggings were and decided to focus our energy into the active wear side!
Tell me about Lets Get Twisted: Let’s Get Twisted is our 2nd Birthday Celebration. We wanted to have a day were people could come and celebrate with us and be active and healthy at the same time. So we have created an event that is suitable for the entire family – where you can come and shop, do a yoga class, have a drink or a meal or both ;), have a massage and spend time with your loved ones! It is at the beautiful Modderfontein Bird and Sculpture Park venue and will be an awesome fit day out.
What got you interested in yoga: I have always been interested in fitness – I competed in 2012 and 2013, but I was never fully satisfied with just weight training. Since I can remember I have always wanted to get more into my yoga – but have only recently made the effort to practice regularly, and I will never look back! I absolutely love yoga and its benefits (not only physically but mentally too). I have found it to help in all areas of my life and I cant imagine my life without it now!
Why is fitness & health so important: I honestly have always felt that every single person should take their physical health seriously. Not only to look good but to feel good – and to ensure that your body ages better and your health is your priority. You cant buy health but you can invest in it 🙂
What makes your tights different to others: Ask anyone who has bought a pair (and many more after that) and they will tell you – the fabric! It is super soft and comfy – it almost feels like you aren’t wearing any pants at all. But also the huge variety of patterns – we have something for everyone – and we make sure that we keep new styles coming in all the time so that our customers never get bored.
I see you have ambassadors – that is awesome! How did you choose who to select: At the end of every year we have an ambassador search – any one can enter but we look for ladies who are energetic, positive and who are passionate about our brand.
Which are your personal favourite styles: Ooooh that’s a hard one – I probably have about 20 – 30 pairs! But my all time favourites would have to be: The original “Aztec Round Ombre”, The Favourite “Light Circles” and then I’m a high-waisted junkie – I love all of mine especially “Pink Ombre Leaves”, “Mushrooms”, “Pink Tropics” and “Aztec Dark Purple“

Guys, let me tell you, these tights are like nothing I have ever felt before! I placed my order & these were delivered within 2 days. And the moment I opened the packet I was in love. They are so, so soft & you will have a difficult choice trying to decide which ones to add to your basket. They are super comfy to work out with, & you can wear them with confidence as they don’t go see-through when you are bending over as many different tights do!
